Chris Brown was finally sentenced for that little incident back in February when his fist met Rihanna's face repeatedly. The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighborhood as Brown drove a rented sports car. A Los Angles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car. Brown's career suffered after his arrest, with sponsors dropping him and radio stations refusing to play his music.
Chris Brown showed up at court yesterday for additional bad news. He will do no prison time, but his probation terms are rough. The singer was placed on just over five years probation and ordered to perform 1,400 hours of "labor-oriented service." His lawyer, Mark Geragos, named the community service program in Virginia in which Brown will be enrolling in a 52-week domestic violence program. The terms also include:
- Brown is on felony probation for 5 years. He must report to probation within 72 hours.
- He is subject to search and seizure 24/7 for the next 5 years.
- He can’t own any dangerous weapons including guns or knives.
- He must provide DNA samples as requested by authorities.
- Brown must complete a 52-week domestic violence program sponsored by the Commonwealth Catholic Charities.
- Brown must personally go to court every 3 months during his probation. The first appearance will be on November 19.
- Brown must perform 180 days community labor. Brown can perform his community labor in Virginia.
- He must pay $2,500 in restitution. Pay another $2,500 in probation expenses. Pay a $30 criminal conviction fee. Pay $400 that will go into a domestic violence fund.
- Brown must get approval before leaving the country.
- The judge will issue a protective order to stay 100 yards away from her. He can’t have any contact with her even on the phone or through a third party unless it’s an entertainment related event, in which case, the distance is 10 yards. This will be for the next 5 years.
And if he mess up just a little his ass will be sent straight to prison even if he go through with all that for four years. I don't know about you guys but I would rather do a year in prison rather than deal with this list of things I can't do. Talk about limbo. They should have send him to jail for a few months and get it over already. I am no fan of Chris Brown the damn woman beater but reading that list made my head hurt. I rather get cane like a dog 180 times rather than do 180 days of community slavery.
People who kill other people had easier sentence than this mess. And regarding the last item, Judge Patricia Schnegg said during the sentencing, "I am not immune to the chatter on the airwaves" - almost certainly a reference to reports that Brown and Rihanna are still talking or have even hooked up. The judge implied she’s heard the chatter on the airwaves that Chris Brown and Rihanna are talking again and made it clear that she is not messing around. Click on pictures to enlarge.
