What the fuck? No jail time for Chris Brown. No jail time for almost killing Rihanna. The dude beat then choked her unconscious while threatening to kill her. Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in jail for abusing dogs while Chris Brown get not even one month for abusing a woman. Something is so fucking wrong here... Chris Brown avoided jail time today after pleading guilty to the felony assault of Rihanna on February 8. She was at the courthouse to testify if the plea deal wasn't accepted. But he struck a fucking plea. CNN says:
Under terms of the agreement, Brown will serve five years of probation and complete 180 days of community service. It's good to see that Chris gets to perform the six months of labor in his home state of Virginia. Too often I've found that judges fail to accommodate the needs of felony woman beaters.
Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said Brown could apply to have his supervised probation transferred to Virginia, where he maintains his legal residence. He also can complete his community service there, she said, but it would have to meet the court's standards.
"I want Mr. Brown treated as any other defendant who comes to this court," Schnegg said.
Brown must also undergo domestic violence counseling, she said. But the judge noted he has no prior criminal record.
He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault -- he pled guilty. He'll get supervised probation. He'll have to come back to court every three months. The important thing to remember is the message was sent to Chris Brown's male young fans that it is okay to beat your girlfriend because you probably won't go to jail the first time. The only thing that gives me hope that justice will ultimately be served is the five years probation. Five years is a long time to go without punching a bitch in the face for disrespecting you. He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.
This is interesting ... the judge said if Brown and Rihanna are at the same public events, the 50-yard stay away turns into 10 yards. The stay away order lasts 5 years.
